Bathroom scales
I would love your suggestions. I have a very old bathroom scale and I want to replace it. I walked into the store and got crazy looking at all the different types. The one I have was purchased when there was only one type of scale. Now there are ones with memory, measure body fat, etc. Can someone tell me whcih is the overall best and most accurate basic scale? I don't really need a lot of features.
After travelling, a scale comes in handy to take off those few pounds gained while away.
Thanks.

You really don't need a scale. If you've gained a few pounds travelling, just cut back and move around more until your clothing fits nicely once again.
At home, the best way to avoid dieting is to cut back and move around more when the clothing gets a bit snug. And, never, ever, buy a larger size.
If you want to lose weight, you'll know you've made progress when you have to buy smaller clothing.

We bought a glass digital scale that seems to be very accurate. Right down to the pesky little ounce that will not go away
It is the second one of this type, they last forever.
The first we got in Bed Bath and Beyond , this one was from Sharper Image.
I hate the big clunky white scales..so glass works for me.

My friend has has the Weight Watcher's digital scale that does everything but sing and dance, but WW almost makes simpler versions of it! She loves it ...

Nooooo! I don't want any talk from that scale! I don't want to hear it laughing either.
It just lights up with a blue light and eases me gently into the weight of the day, right down to the ounce.
It also does not vacuum or iron.

I agree with suze. You need to start out with a baseline, but even if it reads higher than your last scale, ignore it if you can, it's just a number. That's the same sort of shock I always get from the scale in any doctor's office which is ALWAYS a higher number than my scale at home, never lower. Why is that?
Anyway, if you weigh yourself regularly then you will just know that you've gone up or come down from that baseline number.
A nutritionist did once tell me that it's useful to weigh yourself several times per week, even once a day, at the same time of day, and take a weekly average. Compare weekly averages, not daily weights. Weight fluctuates, especially with women with water retention and such, and if you only weigh yourself once a week that could be your low point or high point for the week.
I never want to weigh myself after I eat Chinese or Japanese food, it's discouraging. Makes me feel I might as well have had two hot fudge sundaes instead.
