Are there motel/hotel chains that "usually" have microwaves???

I find it really helpful to have a microwave (refrig nice but not vital) as I have some dietary restrictions that are easier to handle with this amenity..In California a lot of Econolodges have both. also I stayed in Days Inn in Baltimore with same items..What has been your experience???

Do you need the microwave in the room or just in a common area? Hampton Inns have microwaves in some of the rooms, but always in the breakfast area.

Embassy Suites always have microwaves in the rooms, which also have kitchenettes and separate living areas.

Holiday Inn suites or "upgrades" have both a microwave and refrigerator.

If you were to call ahead, most hotels can get you a fridge.

Candlewood Suites and Hilton Suites have always had microwaves in the room when we have stayed with them. Other chains have also put a microwave in our room when we requested it. We had that done at Country Inn & Suites when we had to be in a small city for over a week. They did it with no problem. I am sure there are other Suite type places that always have microwaves.

Amerisuites and Comfort Suites have microwaves, and often dishes, utensils, fridge, etc.

I would expect any extended stay hotel to have microwave. However because most chains are actually independently operated, I would check the hotels' websites or telephone direct if this is that important to you. BTW, I "moonlight" as a deskclerk in a "Choice" hotel, and am unaware of any standard requiring a microwave in a room. I have always found uwaves @ Embassy Suites but do not know if all of them are similarly furnished.

I think the keyword is suites, obviously. Regular rooms that are not suites rarely have microwaves, except in some breakfast area, perhaps.

I agree with Christina, the key word seems to be Suites. I have never been in a suite (both high end and low end) that has not had a microwave and refrigerator but other rooms would be hit and miss for either one. I do know that many hotels will put a refrig in your room if you request it but am unsure if most of them have microwaves. I do know some Marriotts and some Country Inn & Suites (not in a suite room) will get them for you on request. Some charge extra for this. I personally would start with a Suite Hotel and go from there. There are so many of them out there nowadays - Springhill Suites is another I forgot that did have them. Good Luck!!
