Any Married / Couple Vacation Ideas 2-3 Days 3-4 Hrs From NYC?

My wife and I both work hard and my mother in law can take our toddler off our hands (we love her like crazy of course, but we can use a vacation) for literally 3 days / 2 nights. We did the Ceasars Poconos thing and enjoyed it, and in lieu of something else may go back, but does anyone have an idea of what we could do up to about 4 hrs away from NYC. We like the outdoorsy stuff, and would love to be able to go swimming in a pool or at the beach, but not where its very crowded (and during the summer maybe that's wishful thinking). Ideas anyone?? Please

Sagamore can be pleasant - but during August can be overrun because of Saratoga racing.

And I think it may be longer than 4 hours in the summer when you include getting to the island.

And not crowded in the summer - isnt realistic.

We do Hamptons - which isn;t that crowded during the week - but don;t know if it's outdoors enough for you.

My husband and I live in NJ....about an hour outside of NYC. We took a weekend trip to

http://www.crystalgolfresort.com/Hot...adesLodge.aspx

The resort is in northern NJ in Hardyston. There is an outdoor and indoor pool, many restaurants, outdoor activities (great area for hiking) a sports center & gym. Not sure if you guys are into the spa thing, but the spa at the Grand Cascade lodge is one of the best that I have ever been to. If you are wine drinkers this is a great place to visit as they have a beautiful wine area where tastings are done. The resort is also on its own golf course. The views of the mountains are amazing as well. This resort is a great place to get away for an adventure and/or relaxation. I highly recommend at least looking into it!

I'm a big fan of Lenox, MA, and really, the whole Berkshire area. We've stayed in B&Bs and also rented a house once on VRBO. Lots of good hiking, lakes, great restaurants, etc. Have a fun getaway.
