Anniversary in NYC - Hotels?

My parents spent an anniversary weekend at the Waldorf. Their room was in the Towers -- they got an excellent rate ($250) and when they said it was their anniversary they were upgraded to a suite, with a view of the Chrysler Building. The "executive level" in the regular Waldorf is the 27th floor and allows you to have the free continental breakfast and afternoon treats in a special room. Everyone in the Towers gets to do this. (The Towers are all the floors above 27.) My parents loved their experience but I wouldn't stay at the Waldorf unless it was in the Towers and hopefully got an upgrade.

I have a suggestion - the Bryant Park Hotel. The rooms are very large by Manhattan standards with 400 thread count sheets, cashmere blankets, and down duvets. All Molton Brown toiletries, tremendous bathrooms with separate shower and bath. I stayed there last October and loved it - I think it was named best new boutique hotel in NYC. Overlooks Bryant Park and you can eat at the Bryant Park Grill across the street.
