Two tired moms meeting in NYC in 12 days for some free time away from it all. I have been to NY once and stayed at the Marriott Times Square. I agree with the reviews of wild and crazy there but did enjoy the fact that we could leave a show and be back in our hotel quickly and without having to take a cab or anything. My friend has not been to NY so I know she would probably like to stay in Times Square her first time. Can anyone recommend another hotel that would be really easy to walk to after shows. She is a little scared about going so don't want to be to far out walking by ourselves. Thanks. Oh, we will be there from Thursday to Sat if that matters.

My friend and I stayed at the Doubletree at 7th and 47th. Its a great location for walking to shows and accessing the subway system. Good restaurants nearby. The rooms are wonderful for sharing as there is a living room as well as the bedroom. This was great if one got up early or wanted to read late. The good sized baths also had two sinks and a huge vanity. The living room has a bar area with small fridge and coffeemaker, etc. This was great for keeping a bottle of wine for pre-show or making a bit of breakfast to save some money. Security is also wonderful in this hotel. You must show your room key to get past the first floor entrance guard and into the second floor lobby with access to the room elevators.

I just looked at the Doubletree and they only have one bed available for our dates. Any other suggestions?

We stayed at the Michaelangelo W57th and 7th ? We were able to walk everywhere. Loved the Hotel. It was pretty close to times Square. We met our friends there almost every day. You should definetly check it out.

We've also stayed at the Michelangelo and it is an a great location. A bit removed from the crowds of Times Square,yet close enough to walk to all your theatres, etc.
I was initially disappointed in our room at the Michelangelo. I believe it was an executive style room and that is not what we got. It also looked at a very ugly airshaft when I had strongly requested an outside view. I went back to the desk and they fixed it and all was well. It is a nice place--you'll feel special there.

The other hotel I like for sharing is right across the street from the Doubltree -- The Rennaissance Times Square. The rooms are large and it has some of the largest baths in town. Security is also very good.

Have you tried calling the Doubltree hotel directly and speaking with either the sales department or the hotel manager? If you make a reservation for a room (any room) and then send a "looking forward to our stay at your hotel" kind of email to the hotel general manager's office (ask for his/her name from the front desk or reservations), I bet you'll get a room with two beds. Give it a try.

Bidding on Priceline unfortunately won't guarantee 2 beds so that's not a good option for you. I strongly agree with the idea of the Michelangelo. Some other hotels in the TS area but not in a crazy location
