Annapolis lunch

Hoping to get suggestions for pleasant place in Annapolis for lunch. Care more abt the quality of the food than abt view, but pleasant surroundings would be nice as well. Thanks.

Not necessarily in the historical area-- if there are more interesting/better places elsewhere. But would be interesting in knowing best bets in histoircal area as well.

If I were in Annapolis, I'd head straight to Cantler's. Great crabs, and on the water. But it isn't fancy if that's what you're looking for!

In historic district/city dock:

Reynolds Tavern, Church Circle. Historic and very good food. You can tea if you prefer that to lunch.

Across the bridge from city dock to Eastport:

Carrol's Creek Restaurant. Nice view of Annapolis and good food.

In Annapolis but outside the city and hard to find but any local can get you there:

Cantler's Riverside Inn. Traditional hole in the wall, think picnic tables, seafood restaurant. Great food on a little creek. Go for lunch not dinner as this place is very popular with locals and tourist alike.

Be careful about just picking a restaurant with a view. A lot of them have great views but really lousy food.

I always recommend Pauls on the South River, great variety, fantastic food, and nice setting. Downtown Annapolis try Carrolls Creek in Eastport just across the bridge between Annapolis and Eastport. For excellent Italian try Cafe Mezzanotte on Rt 2 in Severna Park. And for outstanding Spanish in a shopping center setting (sorry but the food is wonderful) try Jalapeno's on Forest Drive.

Have a wonderful lunch!!

Les Folies on Riva Rd. Pesce Grande on West St...tapas. Lemon Grass on West Street..super fresh Thai. Northwoods..great French food. Some good Irish Pubs downtown. Jalapenos as said earlier, although I think their tapas are better at dinner than lunch.Osteria 177..Main Street.
I agree that some of the downtown restaurants with a view should be avoided..Phillips is awful!!

just remembered...The Severn Inn. Beautiful location..overlooking the Naval Academy and excellent food. They have a website I believe with menus as do all the others.

Best place in Annapolis for lunch is definitely The Wild Orchid. Located in a restored home in Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis the food is some of the best in the area hands down...and it's not a chain.

Can't say enough about Cantler's, it may be my favorite of all time. It is a little drive from Annapolis, so I woudl say Middleton's Tavern. Historic, good seafood, good atmospher, hey the original GW had a pint there.

We like the Rams Head Tavern -- Good food, great homebrew beer.

Haven't made it to Annapolis yet! Will be sure to report when we do. So many differing opinions (not surprising, I suppose). I do appreciate the input.

Oh yes, I knew the post was old. But I often look at posts for ideas and I don't really care when someone posted. No one had mentioned The Wild Orchid, and it's part of a dying breed in Annapolis: excellent food, no burgers and fries here, and locally owned.
