Affordable, nice hotels near Wrigley Field???
I am having trouble finding affordable hotels in Chicago - can someone recommend any to me? I don't need anything fancy, but would like to be in a safe area. Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

kab,
The problem is that affordable, nice and Wrigley Field area do not work together. This area is full of young professionals with bucks. It is a very desirable area of the city.
Fortunately there is good public transportation to the area and you can stay in almost any region of Chicago and get there easily.
What is affordable to you?

You could stay anywhere in the Loop or near North in Chicago and still be close to Wrigley because of the El.
The neighborhood Wrigley is fine, but not so impressive you would feel you need to stay there. Lots of bars--both gay and straight--and restaurants.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I will keep my eyes open for a good deal on a hotel in the loop, with close access to the El. I will look into the Best western hawthorn terrace though. Thanks again.
