Advice needed regarding restaurants and hotels in Chicago area

Hello Guys,

I will be going to Chicago for my vacation in Mid August. I am doing my reservations of my hotels online. I need suggestions as to which sites would be the best ones for getting Deals on Hotels. I will be in Chicago for about 7 days and i am looking for 4 start hotels and ideally somewhere near the O'Hare International Airport. Would appreciate any advice.

Another thing i am looking for is on restaurants. A friend of mine suggested that i would save money if i can buy some deals on restaurants if they are available. I am looking on google to search for such deals and i am coming across quite a few daily deal sites but none that are specific to Chicago. Any suggestions on where i can find such deals. Also if there are any other things like tickets to famous places which could be bought at a discounted price.

Highly appreciate any advice and suggestions. Will be my first time visiting Chicago so trying to find as much info as i can.

Why do you want to stay near O'Hare? We stayed at the InterContinenetal before a flight recently and hought the room was beautiful; the hotel wasn't expensive.

If you sign up on www.restaurant.com, you can often get $25 certificates for $2.

I too am curious as to why you wish to stay near O'Hare for that length of time. Certainly understandable if you're coming to do business with someone in that area or visit friends there. But if you're coming to visit Chicago as a tourist, staying downtown would be much more convenient. You might want to check Priceline or Hot Wire for hotels downtown.

Another suggestion as far as saving money on restaurants would be to sign up for Groupon for Chicago. They sometimes offer deals on museums and the like as well.

Bedmap.com is the best I have found when I care about the location. I tend to avoid Hotwire and the like after a couple of bad experiences.

I, on the other hand, have had very good luck with Hotwire in Chicago. I've looked in the River North/Streeterville area, which I think is good for a first-time tourist, but other areas might work too. I don't know how easy it would be to find availability at one place for your whole seven-day stay, so you might want to be open to splitting up the days (four here, three there) or something.

And I absolutely agree - it's very easy to take the El into downtown from O'Hare (or Midway, for that matter). Unless you have another reason for wanting to stay there, I'd definitely stay downtown.

Hi Petersham,
You may want to try quikbook.com for hotels, too. Good luck!
