8 days in NE and NS
Looking into 8 day trip around July 4th. Thinking of the following:
Land in Halifax just after midnight on Saturday. Stay there through Mon around 4 pm flight to Boston.
Monday night in Boston. Thinking of either staying by airport (seaport district) or at Hyatt more downtown,
catch Amtrak from North End early Tuesday to Wells. stay in Kennebunkport one night. Catch lateAmtrak to Portland Wed night.
portland until flight home from Boston Sun afternoon.
So basically 2.5 days in Halifax, evening in Boston, just 2 days in Kennebunkoort and just over 3 days in Portland.
Any reallocation or does timing sound good? I had a good drink at seaport Marriott last time in Boston, although I also adore the North End. Thoughts on where to stay? Train leaves 9 am.

I'm guessing the reason for Halifax to Boston for one night is airfare is much cheaper than flying Halifax to Portland but Boston hotel might negate that. Have you looked into timing to fly into Boston and same day train to Wells? Looks like cheapest route is actually bus to Yarmouth then ferry to Portland. Highly recommend a cabin even if it's not an overnight on the ferry to Portland.

dfrostnh has given some good advice. My other concern is how do you plan to get from Wells to Kennybunkport and around in Kennybunkport for 2 days? Others might know of alternative public transportation there, but I would guess that renting and returning a car in Boston or Portland would be much less expensive and more flexible and timely while in Maine than the train etc.

Thanks. Will use points in Boston - would rather that than stay another night in Kennebunkport which is quite expensive. Train is easy - to wells (then about 10 min uber to Kennebunkport) and then Wells to Portland and Portland to Boston. I think there may be some trolley/hotel shuttle to the beaches (Goose and Kennbunk) and the rest of the time I'll walk.
