7 Nights Big Island Kona Coast
We are planning a trip to the Big Island. We are trying to avoid the expense of a resort, so we are wondering if a condominium is a good choice on this island. We would like to stay along the Kona Coast. Any suggestions for well maintained condos that have two bedrooms and are on a property with a great pool would be appreciated. We are planning to rent for a week. Also open for any resorts that would be good suggestions that include breakfast in the rate.

Am not up to speed right now - but we rented a great place/1 BR condo - on Ali drive - Oceanfront - waaaaay back ('86) - when on our Honeymoon - and there were even Ironman Triathletes staying there (a week before the Ironman, icluding a couple of very cute twins from Canada. I would get up early to go snorkeling - and had a lovely chit chat with the lasses as they were getting ready to go out on a trianing ride/swim/ride.
Just google away - VRBO - etc - and there should be plenty of condos choices available. From Kona town south for six miles or so - along Ali drive - there are any number of places.

I tend to stay on the Kohala Coast. Look at Ali'i Kai in the Waikoloa Resort. Very nice condos, new and well built.
Mauna Lani Terrace, pricey but incredible views of the ocean. Also Palm Villas at Mauna Lani Resort. No ocean view but you are close to the clubhouse beach and the property is beautiful.

Consider spending a night or 2 on the Hilo side if you plan to go to VNP and see the lush green delights of the eastern side of the island. You can do day trip, but it makes for a very long day and driving back to Kona in the dark is a challenge, especially after a busy day.
