$50 budget on a hotel near Disneyland?
I'd like to ask for suggestions for a decent and clean hotel near Disneyland at the $50 range? Hopefully with free parking. This is for the 1st week of September. Thanks!

How many in your party? You might be able to get something on Priceline in that range. Just looked on Hotwire and you can definitely get something in that range. I don't know the difference between Disneyland North or South but get on betterbidding.com and check on the hotels listed there for Hotwire. Looks like 3*'s can be had for $39 on up but check carefully as they may charge a resort fee which is usually around $20.

"You are entering the Kingdom of Greed...er....Di$ney, you have to pay for everything..it I$ the Di$ney way."
Actually - the motels around DL are pretty cheap for the location/quality. There are so many that any of the moderate properties will have competitive rates. Especially if you are AAA or AARP members. But $50 just isn't realistic anywhere in tourist areas of California. Priceline may be an option -- but you won't get free parking so will end up costing as much or more than just booking a regular motel.
If Expedia/Orbitz and the other usual suspects don't work out at $60-ish -- You probably need to raise your budget a bit.

if you have a car, how close do you need to be to Disneyland? are there small children in your group who need to leave the park to take a quick nap or recharge back at the hotel? if you're ok with driving maybe 8-10 miles away, you might be able to get a room in that price range in the nearby areas.parking is also usually free in these parts. the hotels and motels that are within the "Disney Resort" area charge more for their rooms and charge for parking.

The hotels around Disneyland are not owned by Disney, and as mentioned the competition keeps rates quite low, among the lowest in CA. You can sort on Expedia lowest price to highest. Just a cursory check shows the Ramada Main Gate with two queens at $55 per night including free parking and breakfast.

Over the years I've stayed in maybe 6 different motels along Harbor or Katella - and not one has charged for parking.
plus as mlgb mentions, almost every one includes free breakfast, maybe not a fabulous cooked breakfast, but at least a continental one.

I have gotten an $88 rate at the Best Western that is directly across from the entrance to Disneyland... no charge for parking and includes a continental breakfast. I haven't seen anything lower, doesnt mean youwont find it!

Thanks for the reply! We will be 3- 2 adults and my 5 year old son. We will be coming from Sylmar, CA and plan to go to Disney for 2 consecutive days. Do you suggest I still look for a hotel or do I just go home and come back the next day?

I'd rather poke myself in the eye w/ a sharp stick than drive back and forth to DL from Sylmar on I-5. Since you have a car -try for motels in Buena Park and outer areas of Anaheim.
By "first week" do you mean Labor Day? That could be a problem.
But if you mean the week prior - you should be able to find a place for around $60-ish.
try Booking.com - plug in your dates and see all of the available places sorted by price.

Thank you so much for your inputs! I found Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Block 1 at very reasonable rates. Which of these hotels is better?

I haven't stayed at either property but I'd pick the closest walking distance to the park or a property that has a shuttle.
Yes, stay at the park. It's a fun staycation and you'll feel like you got away. Best part- a quick drive home.
If you haven't already, look at Disney's good neighbor properties.
