Budget accommodation Columbus Ohio
I may be asking lots of questions duing the next few months about Columbus Ohio.
My daughter and son-in-law who are musicians are moving from New Zealand to the US at the end of May. Initially they are going to spend 6 months or so in Columbus Ohio, DD will be getting Hammond B3 organ lessons, they will also try and get some gigs while they are there.
They want to stay in some cheap accommodation for a week or two until they find a place to rent. In New Zealand this would be called backpacker accommodation, ie a room in a lodge which would have a shared kitchen. Or if there are places available which have their own kitchens that are reasonably cheap that may be an option also.
Any ideas, websites, would be appreciated.

Columbus' Youth Hostel:
1 private room Overnight Rate: $8 OHIO COLUMBUS 95 East 12th Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43201 (614) 294-7157 Beds: 22
The web site doesn't list an e-mail address.
Haven't stayed there, so I can't speak to acceptability.

Do they know how to use Priceline Name Your Own Price? That is definitely what I'd recommend. They might have to change hotels after a bit (I'm not sure how many nights you can bid for on Priceline) but you won't get a
hotel for cheaper.
They should look at Betterbidding.com or biddingfortravel.com to learn how to do it.

Sorry, I just noticed they need a kitchen...
How about a sublet from an Ohio State University student? Maybe check Craigslist Columbus for that...

Thanks everyone for your links and advice.
Latest price I found for the Youth Hostel was $ 17.00 per night per person.
I thought of Priceline but as you say they need a kitchen.
The sub-lets look promising too, especially as the timing seems to fit.
