3 Nights in Phoenix/Scottsdale in November

My wife and I are looking to take a nice relaxing 3 night vacation for Veteran's Day weekend. We have never stayed at a resort but would like to know a little about this since we don't want to have to do too much travelling once we arrive. Could anyone recommend a nice place no more than $200 a night to go for those three days? We would like to be able to get outside and walk everywhere. We play tennis, ride horses, take long walks. Is there any problem with Snakes in November? I am also active duty military, so I would appreciate information on any special offers. Thanks

Unfortunately Novemeber is "high season" in Phoenix and hotel rates skyrocket once fall begins.
I've stayed at Courtyard by Marriott hotels in PHX during winter which were $200 a night with tax.
That said, it's a great time of year there for outdoor activities and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself in that regard.
To get an overview of what your options are, try a comprehensive site like orbitz.com and plug in your dates. Orbitz doesn't always have the best rates, but they're not far off, and you'll get an idea what's out there.
You might try writing back here after you get some specific ideas.
Good luck..

Agree w/steve about the no-snake comment. As far as I know, Donald Trump and the CEOs of Enron, Tyco and Adelphia will not be in Arizona on November.

Consider using Priceline.com for a resort. We landed the Millenium McCormack Ranch for about $100/night. Check Biddingfortravel.com for priceline bidding info.

That's why the founding fathers gave us the right to keep and bear arms, snakes.

Definitely use Priceline. Check www.biddingfortravel.com to see successful bids of folks who use Priceline. Also, get your rental car through Priceline. I generally get a full size car in Phoenix for $20-$22 a day.

Have a great time!

If you cant find resort in your price range and dont want to do priceline, you may want to consider the Embassy Suites at 24th and Camelback in the Biltmore area. It is a city hotel with no resort grounds, however, it is an atrium type hotel; nice swimming pool and has a nice hotel feel. It is connected to Biltmore Fashion Park for restaurants and shopping. Across the street is the Esplanade, more restaurants, and the Ritz. It is a very high end area.
Another place to look into is the Wyndham that just opened on the Phx/scottsdale border. Resort grounds, golf course etc. Next to shopping and restauarants similar to the Biltmore. As it just opened their rates might be good.
good luck

marriot is a good choice; but it is in a new area. there is a golf course and a shopping complex nearby but otherwise it is off by itself. If you have a car it is better.
Wyndham just opened too ((or about to open at Kierland). If available and rates are good it is a better location imo for the weekend.

The recommendation for Embassy Suites is a good one. It's in a great location plus you get that great breakfast and cocktail hour. It's not in Scottsdale, but you're about a 10 minute drive away and you're very close to Squaw Peak or Camelback Mountain.

Finding a one stop shop resort for less than $200 will be tough.

I would highly recommend staying near Scottsdale, Old Town and Fashion Square, but hotel rates are not going to be within your budget. You could try the Residence Inn in Scottsdale. It's not Luxury, but it's pretty nice and near everything.

When we go out every year, we stay at the Chaparral Suites (which used to be an Embassy Suites) in Scottsdale at the corner of Scottsdale and Chaparral. Good central location, 2 nice pools w/jacuzzis, gym, tennis, great breakfast and nightly cocktail hour included!

the embasy suites at the biltmore is a much better location than the CAhapparal suites. It is near the AZ Biltmore; the walking is excellent great night spots, great shopping. Access to desert trils for hiking, near the biltmore. Excellent area if the price is right
