Norway August Trip
Hoping my fellow fodorites can point me in the right direction....
Family of 4 - 19 and 16 year old kids.
Our only travel window is the first 2 weeks of August.
We can fly direct to Oslo from miami.
How should I start planning? Fjords, Hiking, adventure, history, culture, northernmost point, Oslo, Bergen. Hoping to find itineraries to get inspiration from.....
Happy to rent a car. We love the freedom.
We have 12 nights max including travel.
Thank you!

Fly into Bergen and do the Norway in a Nutshell Loops from Bergen sans car - train to Voss - mountain bus to fjord- boat to Flam - scenic train up to Myrdahl for trains back to Bergen - then pick up car and tool around fjord country - spend few days in Oslo and trace the course of the Bergen-Oslo Railways back to Oslo and much as possible -a place to start - for more on Norway in a Nutshell Loop check www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com.

I would rent a car and drive. Especially with kids. We did a great road trip in Norway and it is a very easy country to drive around. I recently found this website and the family is very adventurous ( more than I would be but they are a lot younger than me). It might give you some ideas. https://www.earthtrekkers.com/norway-itinerary/
Norway is the most beautiful places we have ever been. We went in August too.
