LOL, joeschmo! My "home" airport is ORD, and it has often taken me close to 90 min. to get from check-in to my gate. Two hours before takeoff is not too long to allow there nowadays.
eileenbpr, I don't know about mascara or lipgloss, but I did have a little container of flavored lip balm taken away because they claimed it was a gel. I didn't have it in a quart bag, just loose in my backpack, though. (I forgot it was even in there.) Mascara and lipgloss usually come in fairly small tubes, so I don't see why you couldn't simply throw them in your 3-1-1 bag just in case.
Also, remember you can put any liquids or gels you want, in whatever size, in your checked luggage. So if you have any doubts about something or it's too big for the quart bag, it might be worth checking a small piece of luggage that is otherwise largely empty. That would also give you room for souvenirs on the way home.

Sorry, hopefulist, I forgot you posted that you didn't like to check any luggage at all.
For you, all I can say is that if you have a Container Store near you, they carry an amazing array of small travel-size squeeze, spray, and pump bottles.
