This TSA post says large saline solutions are ok?

<Any amount of eye drops, saline solution, prescription and nonprescription medicine and personal lubricants are allowed.>

My saline solution is in a very large plastic bottle. It would not fit in any quart bag. ....do I just throw it in my small carry on?...

If you keep reading the TSS guidelines, you would read that it is RECOMMENDED to have a prescription or dr's note n even for non prescription items, and that the larger bottles are to be kept separate and shown to the TSA officer at security,.. IT IS AT THEIR DISCRETION to allow it not legally, but in practice some TSA'ers will confiscate it.

To be absolutely safe I would have your eye doctor PRESCRIBE the solution for you, then buy it, and ask your pharmacy to affix the RX label to it. They do that, and did it for a cream my DH had to use for a while.

PS I meant buy it over the counter as you usually do and have the pharmacy put the rx label on it .

As a frequent flyer....
I would not bother with the doctor's RX.

I would suggest a smaller bottle, they generally sell them.

The "medication" including saline is suppose to go in a quart bag, not the quart bag your other liquids go in.

That said if you put it in the bin it's probably going to get pass them without a hassle. If they do hassle you ask for a supervisor. Some of the agents are just on power trips!

Almost every saline solution comes in a travel size (or you can get one from your eye doctor). If you won't have a checked bag, you can bring a large bottle of saline solution. You just show it when going through security. It does not need to be in a bag of any sort.
