TSA bag size

Does TSA really allow only a quart-size bag for your 3-oz bottles? A quart-size bag is pretty small; wouldn't hold many bottles, maybe 3 or 4 max. Somehow I was reading quart but imagining gallon-size bag.

Yes, only 1 quart size bag per person.

But my wife and I recently ended up with 2 bags each and we passed through with no problem. My wife screwed up the packing in the hotel for our return trip.

I was amazed when she placed 4 bags in the plastic tray in front of the security person! It was too late to do anything about it. I thought we were going to get pulled into a back room and beaten with a hose or something LOL

My wife wasn't trying to pull a fast one, it was just her way of doing things and her interpretation of the law. The security person only said "ok, you can pass through".

1 quart is the size allowed for carryon items. I'd reserve this for expensive things you don't want to have to buy at destination or lose along the way.

Put stuff you don't HAVE TO HAVE on plane with you in your gallon bag and put it in your checked in bag.

a quart ziplok will hold a lot of stuff. Most things you'd put in it are much smaller than 3 oz.

Travel sizes of mouthwash are usually in 1.5-2 oz range. Samples of face creams/lotions are usually .5 to 2 oz. Lip gloss/liquid concealer are teensy. and so on. There are small travel sizes of everything from toothpaste to BenGay/IcyHot. The smalll hotel-sized shampoos/conditioners usually run about 1 oz.

So one can get a lot of stuff in that single bag.

Unfortunately, the fact that the one poster got through with four bags instead of the TSA much bruited-about mandated ONE..that's ONE bag per person tells you all you need to know about Security Theatre.

not necessarily related to the 4 bag post above - but one IS allowed more than the 1 quart/less than 3 oz. Any prescriptions or necessary over-the-counter liquids (like contact lens/saline solutions) don't have to fit in the quart sized bag. Most people do put them in their own baggie - so LOTS of people have 2 (or even more) quart sized ziploks.

I must echo the last reply. TSA worker said that my meds did not have to be in the quart bag but since Pensacola airport supplies them I simply took one of theirs and thus two bags!

turtle lady: This is the third time you've posted the same thing - and that is ALL you've posted. Why would one need to do that since travel sized toothpaste costs less than $1
