The Cancun Palace OR The Sun Palace??
After reading the information provided here re: The Palace resorts, I've narrowed our choice down to 1) The Cancun Palace or 2) The Sun Palace.
My question: How far is it between these two resorts? How long a drive?
Since the Sun Palace has the non-motorized water sports, I cannot decide between the two. Will be traveling w/2 adults, 2 teens, next June.
Finally, I'm assuming the Palace resorts are a good choice for a family that wants to snorkel, swim, relax, eat good food, walk along the beach, etc. Am I correct?
Thanks in advance for any helpful opinions!

I agree. Cancun Palace would be perfect for both you and your teenagers. Sun Palace is not far, short bus ride away from town. Cancun Palace is more centrally located and the beach is great. We did go to Sun Palace for one afternoon. The beach is nice there as well, not as many people. It was a smaller resort. Cancun Palace is large and we met a ton of people. It is a great atmosphere. I wouldn't let my teenagers too far out of your sight anywhere in Cancun though. I am 30 and yes I party and go out, but I wouldn't let any teens, girls or boys go out down there! There is plenty of fun to be had at the resort! The food at the outdoor grill everynight by the pool was great. You wouldn't be dissapointed with either choice!

Taryn, that is a great price you got. I have checked recently for that resort and it was 2300.00 including air etc. I agree to be careful with the teens. I took 2 teens to Cancun many years ago. It was very fightening experience for me. They took off went downtown. (17 and 18 years old.) One of the boys, was robbed on the beach. it ruined his trip for he had little spending money left. This happended our first night in Cancun. Stayed at the Marriot it was a gorgeous hotel but somewhat quiet for teens. I was told by the hotel people, there are other kids who take advantage of the tourists. They know you are visiting, have some money, so be careful and make sure they stay within your eyesight at all times. It was my first, and last visit with teens. Never again!!

There is some more info on the Palace resorts on the discussion board at www.mytravelboard.com. At this site there is a board for Playa del Carmen and one for Cancun, but both have posts regarding all of the Palace resorts if you would like more info/advice.

Thanks for the responses!!
I've looked at the other websites and done some comparative shopping. Best price so far is $4,000. for 2 adults, 2 teens. Six nights @Cancun Palace. That's with air from Rochester, NY. (The air is always a killer). Does this sound decent?
Thanks again, Jenni
