supermarkets in playa del carmen

We will be needing to stock our villa with food and beverage during our trip in Dec. Where would be the best place to do so.? We all love to eat and are in the restaurant buisness ourselves.

Either Mega on Constituyentes and 30th Ave or WalMart about 2-3 blocks south of Mega on 30th Ave unless your villa is in Playacar in which case I would go to Soriana. There is also a Sam's Club on the highway outside of Playacar.

Agree with Mega & Walmart. But if you're in Playacar it's actually easier to go to Chedraui, which is great for a lot of things except produce, generally. Sometimes you have to go to more than one supermarket to get everything you want. Have a great time!

The best part about Mega is that the best produce market we found was nearly across the street to the north.

Thank you guys. We wil be in the playa car area. Didn't realize that the mega stores had made it to pdc.. Have not been in over ten years. Hope it hasn't changed that much.

Oh my, yes, it's changed quite a bit. Yes, on Chedraui, that's what I meant to say. : )

I would rather buy local for produce and seafood. Hopefully we will catch fish as well. Now for a thread on that

Try DAC on Ave 30 and Calle 20 for produce. If you're getting a charter together to fish in Dec let me know if you need more peeps. WalMart does have an incredible array of produce, meat and seafood. Also sushi.

There is also a Sam's, which while you can find great stuff, you'll forget you are in Mexico!

I have been living here for 6 years now in Playa and we always end up shopping a little bit of everywhere. I have become a big fan of Chedraui as they always have the things that we can't find anywhere else. If you will have a car or don't mind a little longer taxi ride, the Chedraui and the Wal-Mart that are located across the highway near the Plaza Las Americas Mall are so much better the the other ones. Both are big and brand new. I am not a fan of the Wal-Mart on 30th ave.
Have a great trip!
