Soloman Bay Area

What can someone tell me about the Soliman Bay area? Know anything about condos called "U-Nah-Kin"? Is this a safe area? We are looking for a laid back area away from the crowds and beachfront. Ant help is greatly appreciated!

Solimon Bay is beautiful, and perfect if you are looking to get away form crowds. The area is safe and the beach is beautiful. I am not familiar with the condos you mention - actually, I do not believe there are any condos in Solimon. It is entirely platted lots containing one to four casas or casitas on each, with some larger villas. Many nice places to stay there.

Soliman Bay is beautiful. Very quiet and tranquil. Some beach cabanas and huts, but not much else. Gorgeous beach and snorkeling. A couple of restaurants.

If you want a relaxed beach holiday, with no partying, this is a great place. You could bus it or catch a ride, but a car is nice to have as there are a lot of great day trips in the area. You're close to Playa del Carmen for shopping and a day or night out. You can visit ruins, the gorgeous beaches at Tulum, etc, etc.

This is where they filmed the Corona commercial where the guy tosses his pager in the ocean.

If you want laid back and quiet, but with a few more restaurants and bars, Tulum is also a great bet.

The whole coast is pretty unbeatable.

Sheri

Oh - wanted to mention. Yes, this is a very safe area. Just make sure your cabana is securable with a sturdy lock, etc. Som eof the lower budget ones are not.

All the previous replies are correct. Soliman is quiet and laid back. Here are a few web sites for places of interest from the Soliman/Tankah/Tulum area.
Beachfront Villa in Tankah
http://CasaTropical.com

Weather Base (past weather history, temps, rainfall, etc.)
http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weatherall.php3?s=509567&refer=

Hidden Worlds snorkel & dive tours of cenotes
http://hiddenworlds.com.mx/

Aktun Chen
www.aktunchen.com

Maps of Riviera Maya Can-do Maps
http://WWW.cancunmap.com/

Check out this web site for tours lead by the Friends of Sian Ka'an group. It is a non-profit organization and tour guides are usually biologists. Very informative tours lead by a very worthwhile organization.
Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve
http://www.cancun.com/siankaan/

photo of tankah's cenote'
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian/issues98/apr98/diver_jpg.html
