When we were deciding where to stay, we though it looked nice but too isolated for us. We ended up picking Victoria House and loved it. Very quiet and beautiful but close enough to bike or take an easy taxi ride to restaurants, etc. If it's your honeymoon, you make like it though.

We didn't stay there, but had dinner there one night and it was fantastic. We stayed at Portofino, which is just about as remote as Matachica and it didn't bother us one bit. There was always a water taxi to get where we needed to go when we needed it. We loved the property at Portofino, so we had no need to leave unless we were going on an excursion. We planned eating out on the excursions. I would think it would be the same way at Matachica. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. It looked very nice. I also would recommend Portofino, or as volcanogirl mentioned, if you wanted to be more central, Victoria House would also be very nice.

MC wonderful, as is Victoria House. Portofino also very nice, but the other two have it by a nose, which is still great

Thanks! I have looked at Victoria House but when I found Matachica I started second guessing. Still trying to decide! Also planning on staying at Coco Plum for a few days. Anyone stay there?

I'm also considering Matachica for my honeymoon. When are you going? We would be going in July.

Well, have a great honeymoon. Don't miss snorkeling at Hol Chan - it's really amazing. Some of the best snorkeling we've ever done.
