If you like B&B's, I highly recommend Holland House Inn. Check out their website at http://www.islandnet.com/~holndhus/

If you're also interested in recommendations for Italian restaurants, I recommend Pagliacci's (http://www.tourvic.com/pags/).

Enjoy your visit!

I gather Holland House may have recently changed hands? It has a new sign on it - Rosewood or something, with 'formerly Holland House' written below it. Pity. Anyway, I love the look of the place and, although there is no water view, it's in a dandy location.

Did they serve afternoon tea while you were there, Naneki?

Abigail's Hotel (really a bed and breakfast) is lovely.

www.abigailshotel.com

The breakfast each morning is worth it alone...Two choices each morning and cooked right in front of you by the chef... I had an herb mozzerla cheese omlet one day and homemade chocolate waffles the next...

Enjoy...

Avoid the Marriott Victoria Harbour
This Hotel's Executive Management has absolutely No Clue about Customer Service.
Overall, Excellent property, good views, friendly and helpful front desk staff, clean and comfortable rooms which are very well appointed....BUT, the executive management at the hotel is completely worthless when it comes to providing proper customer service. On top of that they are arrogant, snooty with stiff upper lip type attitude and totally lack basic customer courtesy skills. A problem I had during my 1 night stay was not resolved to my satisfaction even though I tried to offer a constructive solution to a noise related problem. My solution would help future guests not get rudely awakened in the early hours of the morning by the hotel's peppy high heeled staff walking on the concierge lounge hard kitchen floor above a particular guest room. So hope you think twice about staying here or ensure that your room is not directly below the concierge lounge. Hope you don't have any complaints or at least don't have to deal with the management staff!!!

The Laurel Point is my favorite place to stay in Victoria as I love to watch the activity in Inner Harbour. I could sit on that balcony all day and feel satisfied seeing the float planes landing , the ferries and the cute water taxis coming and going. The rooms are huge, the bathrooms decadent with granite and large soakers.
Have just returned from Victoria and this trip we stayed at the brand new Oswego boutique hotel, so new that they had an opening ceremony while we were there. The suites or studios are privately owned and modern and it seems to operate as any other hotel but includes in the room rate a lovely breakfast, served in the restaurant or on the terrace. There is an indoor and outdoor fireplace - great gathering places!
I liked the location, that is , if I was unable to stay on the water. The hotel room had a full kitchen and we enjoyed our room so much and were actice enough during the day that we just decided to eat at the hotel each evening. The hotel itself is fairly close to Thirfty's, a large grocery store. Although there may be a trend to try and attract more long term tenants at the Oswego, it is great for a couple of days as well.
