Majestic Mexico Tours

Hello
I am interested in visiting Mexico to see ruins, culture... the 'real mexico'. Majestic Mexico Tours is the only company I can find on the web which seems to have the tour I am looking for: Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Taxco. Does anyone know anything about this company?
I would appreciate any information!
Thanks

Could you be referring to tours conducted by the Majestic hotel in Mexico City? I went on one of their tours many years ago, and it was a typical "tour" complete with stops at their souvenir shop of choice. Having a great dislike for this type of travel, on my last visit there I arranged prior, via email, to hire a private driver and they were most efficient and courteous. You don't have to be a guest there to use the service, but I would recommend the hotel as well. Not for one traveling on the cheap, but worth a splurge if you got it.

Wully, those areas are fairly easy to visit on your own - was there a particular reason you wanted to take a tour? One possibility is to go on your own, but maybe take day tours when you're there.

Thanks for the replies. The Majestic Mexico tours I am talking about can be found at http://www.mexico-tours.com

I don't want to have to worry about getting from one city to the next. I cannot seem to find bus info etc on the net. I also am not sure which hotels are good to stay at. I was thinking that the bulk rate the tour operators have may run me less money.

Any additional suggestions or ideas?

I recently took a package tour to Mexico City that was booked through Majestic Mexico Tours. It was a disaster from day one. They did not provide the services and tours that were specified in the tour package and they offered no apologies or refunds and ignored my correspondence regarding the issue. Look elsewhere…

The real Mexico is in Oaxaca, and Taxco. If you like beautiful beaches, Mayan ruins and party party, then Cancun is the place.

hiya, depending on wen you're hoping to travel you should chek out conditions in oaxaca, has been alot of unrest there recently. Look at the threads re oaxaca and you'll see what I mean. Its easy to get round mexico, loads of buses everywhere, you can stop off in cuernavaca on way to taxco too, and tepotzlan, have fun.

I recently posted negative feedback about Majestic Mexico Tours. Although the tour did not go well they did finally reimburse me for the additional expeses I incurred. I would probably use their services again. When traveling in Mexico you have to expect some bumps.

Hm. I wonder if wully made it to Oaxaca! Since this thread has activity four years after the question was posted, I'll add my .02. I checked the Majestic tours website. If you thought tour operators would save you money you might want to do a little digging on your own. The three hotels Majestic is offering in Mexico City can be had (in August) for less than $25 pp. The tour sounds like you'll spend two days on a bus to Oaxaca and back! Aviacsa does the trip for $46 US each way in a hour. Taxes on domestic air travel can double the airline's fares, but if it buys you two more days (not just hotel nights) it seems justifiable even on a budget. From Oaxaca you can fly directly to Cuernavaca (near Taxco). In years past there has not been direct service from Mexico City to Cuernavaca, I don't think there is to this day, and I don't think Taxco has passenger air service at all.
