Suze - I responded from PV but it never posted. We LOVED PV. Like LOVED it... we are planning on going back and are actually having loose conversations about spending 6 months out of the year there in retirement. The sailing is amazing and that makes my husband happy. I was enchanted in a way that no other part of Mexico has grabbed me.

We spent a few days up in San Pancho and then the week at our timeshare ... we got off the property a lot and loved it! One of our favorite days was driving to Boca de Tomatlan, where we went on about an hour or so hike along the coast to e Hotelito Mio and Playa Caballo Resort.... it was fantastic! Sat there all day with some new friends we had made who live in PV ... took a water taxi back for $3.00 USD each... it was a fantastic day ending up back in PV for a dinner at el barracuda on the beach in PV.

Yahoo!!! It seems with Puerto Vallarta people either fall in love immediately or they don't care for it at all. Rarely is anyone lukewarm about it.

I find it intoxicating and addictive, that's why I return over and over again, and still can't wait to get back.

Yes the 1/2 year in retirement has been already on my agenda for years. Spending one month there recently only confirmed what a good idea (for me) that is!

Thanks for posting Dawn. Really appreciate hearing about your trip. And it is easy to make "new friends" there, right? People are so open and friendly. Mexican locals, visitors, tourist, snowbird, expats, alike. People are just more friendly there. Maybe because everyone's so happy

Did you just go there, to Puerta Vierya? Did you have a nice time? Is much open there?

Lynn - Puerto Vallarta (is the spelling). No I have not been this year because of the pandemic. I cancelled a March trip and have not rebooked. But check in the the Trip Advisor PV forum... plenty of people are traveling. And yes things are open. I've been to PV at least 30 times and always enjoy myself. But I'm not going while Covid if still a concern.

Wow! 30 times! You must be an expert! Understandable. Not much will be open now probably. Do you recommend going there? Also, did you wind up going to maui? With the other couples?

I think you have me mixed up with someone else. I was never going to Maui or vacationing with other couples. I do vacation in Waikiki/Honolulu on Oahu

Not sure why you think that... Puerto Vallarta is open. There are daily trip reports on people visiting right now over on the PV Trip Advisor forum, if you want to read what's up in town. Yes I highly recommend going there. But not right now. I personally am waiting to travel until at least mid-next year with hope the pandemic situation has gotten over the worst part.

Sorry, you both have the same name... I've been to Oahu also. I see what you mean, it's probably best not to go right now, plus you have to turn in a test 72 hours prior. And there's probably not a lot open. But I bet the prices are cheap.

Some people have been getting good airfare. But I don't think hotels or restaurants or anything else are any cheaper in either Mexico or Hawaii because of the pandemic. If anything I believe things will be more expensive because of having much less business.

That's true. That makes sense. Probably not a lot open too. Tour co.s, restaurants, etc. So many businesses, travel industry are suffering right now. Sad.
