Unfortunately in March The cafe seemed to be closed. One of the better ones in the old days IMO.

Not the River Cafe, it's El Fuente de Puente that has the plastic statue of Dick & Liz.
I was lucky enough to know John Huston and had lunch with him a couple times out at Las Caletas, cooked and served by Archie.

Hope you are having a blast!

Do you ever bring home food products from Mexico? Just curious, not sure if you are a cook or not at home..

cabron beat me to it, as usual! That statue (it's kinda ugly actually, doesn't really do them justice) is at the restaurant called La Fuente de Puente (different bridge, one more inland, than where The River Cafe is).

hey wait just a darn minute! they removed my post saying how much i enjoyed meeting cabron in the plaza the other morning?!? And thanking him for stopping by Zumba to meet me earlier this week.

ekscrunchy~ No, nothing to cook with. I do load up on the sugar & spiced toasted/coated nuts from the candy store... pecans, almonds, peanuts. Also bring vanilla, coffee, hot sauces, chocolate as gifts for friends.

I'm meeting a Trip Advisor friend for dinner at Daiquiri Dicks tonight. It will more likely be a margarita, but I will have one for you, Percy!

suze: I don't think the removed post was anything like that. I saw it when I was posting and sort of remember it was short and something like "take your argument to your own thread" to someone who was fighting with stewbear - maybe baldone?? Not exactly, but along those lines. I may have it totally wrong but I didn't see any posts about meeting cabron or zumba.

Perhaps your post didn't take -- the site has been wonky the last couple days . . . .

Because it was taken down with the others removed. Yes it was there. I saw it after posting. No biggie. Maybe I even said it in the same post where I asked those two to quit squabbling on this thread.

Anyway, hopefully he saw it. It was important to me.

muchas gracias ;-)

FYI
I was not squabbling in fact I have not replied to his posts for several weeks, no will I. Have zero interest in his comments so please do not accuse me of adding to this nonsense!
I personally would never hijack another's thread especially Suze who I have great respect for. Have a great trip Suze. I just booked a month in PV for February along with some other Mexican travel.

Stewbear: >>I was not squabbling<<

Just to clarify, the deleted post was (I think) by Baldone tweaking you. I didn't see anything from you in response.

OK maybe I should actually "trip report" on my trip report thread...

Weather has been mostly nice, hot clear sunny days. Several evenings like clockwork a crack of thunder and the skies opened up in a downpour at 6pm sharp.

Today, Sunday morning 8am PV time, overcast no sun yet.

It's a little early in the season so many restaurants are closed still from their vacation or remodeling summer time hiatus.

Less tourist around that you'll see once we get into Nov/Dec and thru the winter months. Happily a "more Mexican" feel when walking Centro (downtown).

It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it, Percy!!

The Malecon

(is the official name for the boardwalk, the seawall promonade, which runs along the ocean from Hotel Rosita over the Rio Cuale, almost all the way to the Pier on the Southside, since they extended it a bit back.)

hmmm... there's lovely ice cream lots of places these days.

hey I get up early. It's 7am local time right now. Zumba in the plaza starts at 8:15am and I need a couple cups of coffee and a shower before that!

jubilada~ *absolutely* it is a luxury of time. It feels very different than past trips that were a week, 10 days, 2 weeks at the max.
