Huatulco

Is Huatulco more for couples only or are there "kid" friendly resorts as well? Any feedback is appreciated.

I have not been there for about five years. At that time I would say for couples. We took our kids as we bused from Oaxaca. At that time I thought Huatulco was some of the best beach scenery I had ever seen, reasonably nice beaches, the water was choppy and not clear when we were there. Drinks on the beach, some great seafood and that was bout it.

The Gala Resort is one of the most popular places there.....next door is Barcelo Resort.

It is mainly a couple place, I did not see that many children there.

The place is very hot , in January there was never a day under 95 F

Wow- I didn't know it was that hot then. I was there in August and it was about the same. Yikes- course you can always head up to Oaxaca City to cool off.

I would say more for couples, though there were some children. We were in Huatulco last February for two weeks - stayed at Las Brisas, yes a fair amount of walking, but you can catch a golf cart shuttle every few minutes to your rooms if need be. There are 3 separate beaches, we spent all of our time at the sporting beach as we wanted to windsurf, go on the hobie cat and kayak. Loved the food, I had never done an All Inclusive before and found the food was tremendous for the 2 weeks. If you go, try the "mud bath" treatment at Bocana Bay, a short taxi ride away!

Historically the "kid friendly" resort in Huatulco has been the "Gala" now renamed "The Dreams" and currently in an expansion program. The one review I have seen about "The Dreams" so far has been positive. A Yahoo Group fairly active about Huatulco can be found at HuatulcoParadise.net which I have an "interest" in.

Usually the weather is great about 360 days a year, but January up to about Easter is the best for temperature.
