Cancun Hotel Help

Looking to travel February to Cancun. Two girls in early 30's just looking to relax and be on a great stretch of the beach. Looking for close to town, but not a cheap hotel. Possibly all-inclusive.

Looked at Dreams and the Palace Hotels...

any comments?

Check out the RIU Cancun and the RIU Las Americas. They are side by side on one of the better stretch of beaches in Cancun and within walking distance to shopping, clubs, bars and resturants. The bus also stops out front if you need to go farther.

Stayed at Riu last year in Playa... Riu Mexico and wasnt impressed with the food at all. White the groups were beautiful... the hotel itself was lacking. Hated the way they did reservations...

Do you know how smiliar the Las Americans one is?

Trying reading trip reviews on tripadvisor.com for more info.

We stayed at the RIU Tropcial Bay in Jamaica and felt the same way. I understand that the "Palace" RIU's are better, though the reservation sytem is the same.

The problem with Cancun right now is that most of the hotels have beach erosion. We picked the Oasis Viva, since it still had a nice beach. It's location is just down the way from the RIU's. We were very disappointed in the accomendations and the overcrowding, though the food was decent. I wouldn't recommend it. I wished we had spent the money and stayed at the RIU Las Americans, but was weary of the single party atmosphere that has been reported.

Does it have to be Cancun? Look at the Playa del Carmen area. We stayed at the Royal Playa del Carmen and loved it. Nice rooms, very good food, no reservations required and a 5 minute walk to 5th Avenue for additional resturants, bars, entertainment and shopping. It's adult only, but doesn't cater to honeymoon couples. Lots of singles there.
