Help in narrowing down the apartment hunt in BA

Still apartment hunting. I've eliminated one in Palermo that was reported to be in a "relatively safe" and "very middle class" area. Shifted to Recoleta/Barrio Norte and have narrowed it down to two! 1. Barrio Norte's: Libertador Ave-Vicente Lopez (don't those streets run kind of parallel?) I've emailed the rental agency asking them to clarify just exactly where it is. 2. Recoleta's: Azcuenaga/Arenales Streets. Any opinions on the areas?? Thanks!

Kathy,

Instead of trying to describe each of these areas to you, I will try a different approach this time around....Here are three apartments in great areas......

Have you tried VRBO:

#16195. Great location, Posadas/Cerrito. Building has security. Reputable agency (not all are in BA).$385 per week.

#40216. Close to the first apartment. Very reputable agency.$415 per week.

#47693. Great new apartment in one of the best neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Honest owners. $500 per week.

Or you could Check the offerings by www.bahouse.com.ar They offer lots of apartments very near the price of the first apartment you mentioned, including one or two in good areas in Palermo and a dozen apartments in good parts of REcoleta.

Azcuenaga and Arenales is an ok part of town, near the Arthotel where several Fodorites have stayed recently.

Dr. D...Once again, Thank You. Maybe I've not mentioned that my stay in BA is for 2 months so I can't really swing $400US per week. I went to the bahouse site, clicked
"translate" and while the numerous properties looked pretty darned good for the prices, the description/details didn't translate into English. I got frustrated thumbing through my Spanish dictionary. I sent
them (bahouse) an email asking if they could somehow translate their info into English and send same to me.

I am not certain what your monthly budget it, but most places rent for less by the month...usually this translates to pay 3 weeks and the fourth is free......

Hopefully they will be able to translate from ba house. post the numbers that interest you (c20., etc) and maybe I can help....

Dr. D...
I tried to email you (addressed [email protected]) but it bounced back with "mailbox unavailable" + "user unknown"??? Then, I forwarded it to me at my hotmail site. When I tried to forward it to you from there, it said "error has occurred, click to resolve"; clicked but it didn't resolve.

Monthly max of $700, prefer lower, of course; could go a hair higher if absolutely necessary. Apt. rental dates are 2/10-4/14 tho I'm arriving in BA 2/2 and will stay in a guest house till 2/10. Would have time to apt. hunt IF need be, good or bad idea?

Not yet ready to send you any bahouse ID numbers. Progress is slow cuz I need to use my Sp. dict. a lot. On the bahouse website where it asks for "cantidad de ambientes" does that mean # of bedrooms or # of rooms or??

Thanks.

Kathy
