BA Apt.Rentals: Is there a general cockroach problem?

Friend rented in Recoleta area & had cockroaches in her apt. She was told that this is common in BA because they come from the water pipes. I'm looking into renting an apt. in Feb. & am wondering how I can be assured that my place will be roach free?
Thanks

I don't think anyone can be absolutely "assured that my place will be roach free".

If it's REALLY clean, it SHOULD be roach-free.

Before we moved into the apartment that we bought here in BA, we rented 2 apartments.
They were both roach free. A good building will have some sort of maintenance , monthly exterminators etc that keep the apartments bug free.
I only see those huge water bug looking roaches on some sidewalks in some parts of town, never inside buildings.
The apartment you rent can be clean and the neighbor can be a pig and the bugs will be there, so the building itself has to have an exterminator .. ask about that when getting info on anything you are interested in :- )

I have rented two different apartments in Recoleta and DID NOT encounter any roaches in either. Your friend's assessment sounds more like a friggin' generalization.

The two bedroom apartment was in the Concord Callao Apartments complex; my one bedroom was gotten through www.bairesapartments.com, and if I had had roaches, I would NOT have had them anymore at anyplace that I'd rented.

I find that the cockroaches generally come from old furniture- if the apartment is clean shouldnt ba a problem - plus its a bug - there could be far worse things

We rented Rec 05 from ApartmentsBA and saw no roaches.

This building had regular exterminating service.
