We (3 ladies) went to Guadalajara for a long weekend in Jan 05. We stayed Hotel San Francisco Plaza, C. Degollado 267; ph 011-52-33-3613-8954 or 8971 (no fax).
Our room had two double beds, sofa, table/4 chairs, dresser, tv, bath w/shower, and we paid about $50, breakfast not included. The rooms are typical colonial Mexico style, opening onto a nice, plant-filled courtyard.
We were right downtown, we felt safe, the hotel personnel spoke English and were very helpful.
This place is not fancy or luxurious but it is nice, cheap, central.
Hope this helps,
Sandy (in Denton)

We enjoyed the DE MENDOZA CENTRO HISTORICO HOTEL. Reasonably priced, central location. Get the suite, good value.
