As i read through my itinerary for our upcoming trip to South America next month, i see we will be in Buenos Aires on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Tracy

We were in BA last Easter Sunday. We went to the San Telmo street market on Easter Sunday, this is a real happening, starts 10AM. Last year on Easter Sunday we also attended a free outdoor concert at the Hilton in Puerto Madero after an outdoor cafe lunch and a stroll on the cobblestone walk along the waterfront. For dinner try La Cabrera in Palermo, the Bife de Chorizo is to die for and comes with 13 side dishes (reserve well in advance for Easter Sunday).

Good suggestions.

During Holy Week, only some smaller shops are closed in BA.

Don't miss the San Telmo fair on Sunday. It's quite touristy, but fun.

For steak in San Telmo, one possibility is "La Brigada", Estados Unidos 465 - Tel: 4361-5557

Get there early, if you don't wish to wait, or reserve.

How about going to a tango show?

Have a great time in our town.

Hey TracyB. We will be in BA on the exact same days. We arrive on Friday and will be there through Tuesday when we head for Iguazu. I was worried about the same thing, but was assured that things will be open as avrooster indicates. We are going to a tango show at El Querandi (not sure of the spelling, but that's close) on Saturday. Also a city tour Saturday morning. Sunday we plan to go to San Telmo. Thanks for the restaurant recommendations dugi_otok. DH loves chorizo! I can't wait!

Hey, funny, we are going to Iguazu on Monday!!!

Maybe we will bump into u!!

Where are u from??

We are coming from Canada...(Edmonton).

We are first going to Santiago, Chile for 2 nights, then 3 nights to Easter Island, then back to Santiago where we catch an 8 day tour..

We end the tour in BA, spend a couple of nights there and then onto Iguazu!!

Jen: "chorizo" is a kind of local sausage and "bife de chorizo" preferably "angosto" is my favorite cut of steak. I suggest you keep that in mind when your DH orders.

Have a great time in our country.

I realize that I never got back to this post. Don't know if you are still checking it TracyB. We were in LA for son's wedding and just got back.

We are from the Chicago area (northern suburbs).

We head to Iguazu on Tuesday and will be staying at the Sheraton. If you are there maybe we will see each other. Maybe for a drink one evening? Monday we might head over to Colonia or up to Tigre. Not sure yet. Leaning towards Colonia.

Thanks for the clarification, avrooster. I was thinking of the Mexican chorizo. But bife de chorizo sounds yummy too. We are looking forward to some good Argentinian steak!
