Hi, I have never stayed there but the 4 Seasons was a former up scale Hyatt. THere is a beautiful old , kind of Parisian building that is part of the hotel. I do not know if they have rooms or suites there.Location is good, and I am sure service is good.

I never stayed at the FS in Buenos Aires. I did walk through the lobby, however. It was your typical FS, just like the one in Philly. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from Recoleta Cemetery. The most expensive mall, Patio Bullrich, is right next door. If I were spending big bucks, I would rather stay at the Alvear Palace. It has more character.

My family and I just returned from the Four Season's BA this past weekend. The hotel is superb; one of the best properties in the world I have ever stayed at and I have traveled a lot. We had originally been booked at the Marriott Plaza, having disregarded advice from this very forum that said it was old and in need of repairs. I thought old would be classy, great for BA and a terrific location. I was very wrong. (Sometimes old is just old.) I had booked a suite and, upon entering and seeing that it had not been renovated, overlooked an old apartment building and was in need of many repairs (like new beds and new furniture), we fled to the Four Seasons. I had a suite there too. Yes it was expensive, but worth it. (And, it was only slightly more than the Plaza, which is astonishing.) The Mansion is an incredible part of the hotel, and yes way more money. Do not be put off by the more modern appearance of the Four Seasons. It fits in the neighborhood and has class.
The location is great. Essentially across the street are 3 or 4 great restaurants - including Piegari and Mirasol, both excellent - and many others within a few blocks. Patio Bullrich shopping mall a block or so away. Recoleta is where you want to be. Rooms in the Four Seasons are now being redone, although ours, which had not yet been done, was huge and beautiful. Pool area is nicest in BA. Pool service was top notch. But, it was the service which stands out. There are many examples too numerous to mention of the staff simply going above and beyond. Very memorable. We will return. (We also checked out the Alvear and thought the Four Seasons was more for us and less "touristy".) And, if you want a guide, I was smart enough to follow the recommendations of others on this forum and I used Cintia at wowargentina. She was superb. Knowledgable, kind and professional. Personalized attention, from airport pickup to custom tours. We will use her again. BA is a terrific city. We shopped till we dropped, great leather at great prices, and the food also was excellent, and we are foodies from NYC. Have fun.

I have stayed at the Four Seasons before. It's really a fantastic hotel. It was recently ranked by a popular travel magazine as the best hotel in South America. The service there is great. I love that area. I live in the area just two blocks away and it's my favorite part of the city. Very safe and you can walk around all hours of the night. About the only negative is the price. I paid about $350 per night with the 21% VAT tax. If you have the money, it's definitely a nice treat.

I like it, I like it, I can't wait to be there.
A friend told me that we have to be very careful with pickpockets and people asking for money, is that true? is it worst than Italy, Spain or Mexico?
How expensive is wowargentina?
Thanks

It is difficult to rate a city, my feeling is that is less dangerous than Mexico City , less people, less crowded
the streets- Pickpockets I would say like in any place. I were a belt. No jewlery, no Rolex watches or things like that.
At night as a sign of troubled times people look for card board and plastics in the garbabe. They re sell these items, and accordingly they are called cartoneros. ( Carton= card board) This is sporadic, here and there. When you happen to see them of course you feel sad, and not well. But they do not bother people as far as I know.
I have always felt ok in Italy, and in Spain although Barcelona is an exemption.
