I'm trying to figure out what to bring for the kitchen. Is there a coffee maker there? Cups, etc? I know someone mentioned packing ice cube trays so I've done that. Ideally, I'd like to have a cup of coffee before we go to breakfast but if there is no coffee maker, I'll have tea. Can anyone tell me what the kitchen has in the way of supplies?

It had everything you would need when we were there a couple of years ago except the coffee etc. If we know we will be in a place like that we bring a little filter thing that sits on a cup and you just put coffee in it and then hot water over it. I bought it at Dicks sporting goods in the camping supplies. Works basically like a Costa Rican Chorreador without the stand. http://www.zurqui.co.cr/crinfocus/cr/coffee.html.

I know what you mean about having a cup first thing. My husband brings me one in bed and then runs for cover until it is gone. That will be a beautiful place to sit outside and enjoy waking up.

Excellent. Thanks Suzie2 for the information but even more so for the laugh! My kids learned many years ago not to talk to me before that first cup'o java. Hubby still has yet to figure it out. ;o)

They do have a coffee/tea bar always available, so as far as supplies, you can always snag a few tea bags too.

I didn't stay at Casa Teka, but at the other two houses. Both of them had a large french press and pans for boiling the water. It worked perfectly fine.

Stayed in Casa Teca two weeks ago. They have a CR style coffee maker - sounds a lot like the camping one. A filter sock over a cup - makes one at a time.

There were your basic supply of pots/pans, plates/glasses/silverware, knives, cutting board, papertowels, salt/pepper (but that might have been leftover from previous people), dishsoap.

No blender or other electrical appliances. The stove and refrig are run off of propane.

No sugar, teas, or coffee. No washcloths or sponge (used one of the towels from the bathroom instead).

No baggies or tupperware if you are packing any lunches or wanting to save food.

Pretty much what I remember - certainly not all-inclusive. If there is anything else specific you want to know, ask because I might have forgotten to include it in the list.

Locolowe, thanks for the additional information. I was planning on bringing individual sugar packs & tea bags with me. I will stop and buy a few supplies in P.J. when we land.

One other question, does anyone know if we will be able to use a rechargeable flashlight -- the type you just plug back into the wall?

If I recall, BdC asks that battery chargers not be used in the rooms - takes too much energy. This includes laptop and camera batteries, so I assume it would also include flashlights. I also know on special occasions they allow chargers in their office but I would take a different flashlight.
