Cancun hotel

Hi- Does anyone know anything about the Camino Real Cancun hotel? It sounds nice- but it's not in the Fodor's listing.

I've stayed there several times and enjoyed it very much.
Be sure to stay in the Club Tower if you have the choice to - much nicer.
It's in the upper-middle level of the hotels in Cancun in my opinion.
One of the best features is its proximity to shopping and dining.
The beaches (2) there are nice.

been to Camino Real and will agree with Diana stay in the towers. The hotel is one of the first in Cancun so ot os not new. The Towers are newer than the main bldg. It was a very nice hotel. If price is not an issue than I highly recommend the two hotels next door. The Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is one of the finest hotels I have ever been to in my life. Little pricey but very upscale. Next to that is a brand new hotel which is the Riu Palace Cancun it is an all inclusive. I have read very nice reviews for this hotel. All three of these hotels are located right in the heart of town and very accesible to everything. One other thing is the beach is very nice there too. Good luck

A recent Travel & Leisure Magazine ranked the Camino Real Cancun #24 out of 25 best hotels in Latin America, if I'm not mistaken, and actually 1 slot ahead of the Fiesta American Grand Coral Beach! The website mentions that the tower rooms have been recently renovated, so it should be very nice! (After staying at the Camino Real Puerto Vallarta, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any Camino Real Hotel, and that one didn't even make the top 25!)

I've stayed at Camino Real more times than I can count, and wouldn't stay anywhere else in the hotel zone. It's my home away from home. It's an older hotel and still has a mexican feel, unlike many of the newer hotels. Have never stayed in the club tower. The rooms, especially bathrooms, need some updating (which I believe is in progress or will be soon), but they are clean and comfortable and I've never encountered any problems. The location, the grounds, the staff and the beach are all fantastic. I have tons of photos on disk and would be happy to e-mail some to you if you'd like. ([email protected]). Their website is www.caminoreal.com. Click on resorts, then Cancun. You can also check out www.tripadvisor.com.

We stayed there in 2001 in the tower and had a great trip. The tower beach area is protected and has the best view on the zone. The staff was very good and the location is the best. One problem is that if you like to walk on the beach you are restricted as the neighboring hotels south have nothing but rocks.

I also have photos but would love to see others!

Best wishes DCE
