Any recent visits to Capitan Suizo?

Was just able to book a bungalow at Capitan Suizo and wanted to read about someone's experience if you've visited in the last couple of months and stayed in the bungalows. Any fb on the resort and specifically on the bungalows is greatly appreciated. Cheers

I also have a bungalow reserved (bunglow #3) for 3 nights in March at Capitan Suizo. I just read a horrible review on tripadvisor.com about the bungalows (no a/c, very loud and near traffic) so I am a little concerned and I may consider switching to something else such as Cala Luna.

I would appreciate any suggestions as well.

We haven't been at Capitan Suizo in a while (last visit August 2003) but I don't expect things have changed much from our last visit.
The bungalows do NOT have A/C (I don't think that Capitan Suizo ever advertized them as having A/C). All of the windows are half glass and half screens so there is good cross ventilation. We always stayed in the bungalow closest to the beach (#4), but I think we also stayed in #3 once and noise was not the issue (other than waives crashing on the beach and you can hear the restaurant in the evening). I don't think you would be able to hear any street traffic except maybe in one bungalow that is nearest the street (it is #5 or 8 - can't remember in what order that row of bungalows is numbered). Cala Luna is lovely I am sure, but it is not directly on the beach like Capitan Suizo is. If location is not that important to you, then you should switch if you are concerned about lack of A/C.

If you're looking for a stand alone bungalow/cabin, I'd strongly recommend Casa Cook which is just 100 yards from Suizo and is very peaceful and romantic. We stayed there last month and it's great. My review is on Trip Advisor. I'm very surprised there isn't more buzz on the place. The owners told me they fill up on word of mouth referrals as opposed to relying on travel agents. We ate several meals at Suizo and the food was good. I did notice a fair amount of children there if that's a concern. The grounds were attractive.

My husband and I stayed in a CS bungalow just this past summer and really loved it.

I was a little skeptical when we first arrived because the bungalows encircle the restaurant and the pool. We were in the bungalow that was closest to the back entrance of the restaurant and I was sure we'd hear beer bottles hitting the trash after a busy boozing night at the bar. I never heard a sound.

The sunsets from the beach at Captain Suizo are worth every penny. The pool is great and so is the restaurant. I remember seeing Captain Cook's right next door and thought it just looked like someone's private beach house. Might be nice if you want that kind of accommodation.

Hope this helps.

I usually don't post messages, but I had a bad experience in August at Capitan Suizo. We had 2 bungalows reserved (after our travel agent was able to pull some strings). It was extremely hot and humid that week in Tamarindo and the bungalows were unbearable. The management tried to help with fans but to no avail. We spent one very hot night and managed to get into the all-inclusive Paradisus playa conchal about 20 miles away. This was about twice as expensive, and not really what we wanted, but it was COOL. It turned out to be a good move.

Sorry, no experience with Capitan Suizo. I would hesitate to stay at the beach during the dry season without it!

We are planning our first trip to CR in April and planning on spending 6 nights at Capitan- we really wanted to stay in the bungalows- as they obviously appear nicer- but the a/c thing just made us too nervous- so we booked a room instead- sure hope we won't be disappointed!
