We were in Acapulco 2 years ago in Dec. We stayed at the Camino Real Acapulco Diamonte and had a very nice time. Its on the outskirts of town in a new resort area on overlooking a bay the hotel and service was very good...as far as Acapulco the town is concerned-it was too busy and crowded for my liking but the people we met were very friendly-the taxi drivers full of info and what a ride! We liked the hotel so much we left maybe 3 times...saw the cliff divers and some night life. At least we didn't get our credit card number lifted like we did in Playa del Carmen last year! We live on the west coast and the price/travel time was right...I guess it all depends on what you are looking for.<BRL

I'm going in November for the first time. I suppose it really depends on the type of traveller you are. Personally I like the crowds of locals -it makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Many resorts are just transplanted USA. It's a qusetion of attitude and adventure.<BR>gp

We went in July this year and having visited various resorts around Mexico I have to say that Acapulco was by far the worst - I would never visit this place again!! Thank god we know that this isn't typical of Mexican hospitality otherwise it could have put us off Mexico for good. Take my advice and look elsewhere, this place is characterless, dirty & dangerous (there were 2 gunpoint muggings, 1 involving the local police whilst we were there - apparently corruption is rife in Aca!!)
