Would you rather be in Prague or Budapest for Christmas?
I'm reposting this as the original thread didn't get any replies.
I'm arriving in Prague Dec. 17 and leaving Dec. 30. I'm also planning to go to Budapest a few days.
If you have been to both cities, where would you spend Christmas?
Thanks for the input!

I have been to both cities a couple of times, but never at Christmas. I love both cities equally, even though they are quite different.
If I were to go during Christmas, I would check to see what will be open when and in which city. Do you want to have a special Christmas Eve or Christmas Day meal? Do you want to attend any religious services? Perhaps there are special events that are held only during the Christmas season that you may enjoy. I'd base my decision on the available activities and hours of operation.
I know this isn't the best input, but perhaps it will help you decide.

Either city would be equally lovely as both have a "Christmassy feel." Both have stupendous churches and castles, wonderful hotels and restaurants and Christmas Markets of course. I agree with lucy d -- make your itinerary and work from there. Many places of business will be closed so you'll have to take that into account. I hope it snows a little, that would be just beautiful.

Oh my gosh - definitely PRAGUE. We were there last year - couple of days after Christmas and it was absolutely PURE MAGIC. The christmas markets were still going. The christmas tree in the square was just incredible all lit up, the atmosphere wonderful and it started to snow! It was completely a WOW experience.
