Which country New Years?

I'm a woman traveling alone from Dec. 26-Jan. 2. Which country would be a good choice for this time of year as far as weather and crowds. Because of the short time frame, I would like to concentrate in one area as I have been to Europe many times. Thanks.

When I first read Sheila's response I was somewhat amused and thought, "Who in their right mind would go there "for the weather" at that time of year..but then relized the Op didn't specifi what kind of weather she either wants or wants to avoid.

The weather in Scotland is perfect for New Year celebrations.

What's the point of wasting a terrific time for boozing and feasting in some tedious tropical beach?

Lots of crowds in Edinburgh at NY - but they had to cancel the celebrations a couple of years ago because of the weather

Also note that you need to book tickets & accomodation NOW.

An alternative BTW would be Amsterdam which goes a little crazy at midnight
