Where to stop on way from Cascais to Monchique?

Hi.
I'm in the middle of planning a trip to Portugal. Two days in Lisbon.Day trip to Fatima. Two days in Sintra. One day in Estoril and Cascais.Drive to Monchique.
My question is; since the drive to Monchique is a few hours, I would like to break it up by stopping along the way somewhere on the coast. Any suggestions?

Hi. If you drive to Monchique through the highway it will take 3 hours or less. But if you want to take a day in between Lisbon and Monchique you can go to Porto Covo, in the coast, or Evora, in Alentejo, one of the most beautiful Portuguese cities you shouldn't miss.
But can I ask you why you chose Monchique ? Monchique is in the Algarve, not very nice, not near the beach with only good terms to offer. The Algarve has much nicer p+laces to go, like Tavira, Sagres, Albufeira zone, just to name you a few.

Thanks Tere.
I was reading some of the posts, and Monchique was recommended to visit.I've never been to Portugal and am trying to plan everything for another couple and myself just from my own research!
Any advice is appreciated.

We just returned from Portugal on March 26. I've entered some posts on here since then with information but didn't receive many responses nor questions. I also did all my own research using the internet, guide books (liked Fodors, Baedeckers and Eyewitness Guide the best). There was also useful information to be found here from other older posts. I'll be happy to try to answer any questions you post. Can't help with Monchique however, as we did not go farther south than Evora.
