Just in Lisbon or also in Portugal?

How long are you going for?

For other places to visit by train or car - concentrate on going between Lisbon and Porto with several neat stops en route and easy day trips from Porto.

There are some easy day trips like Sintra, Cascais, Evora, Obidos, etc by train. For train info and where to go by them see www.cpt.com; www.ricksteves.com; BETS-European Rail Experts and www.seat61.com.

There is certainly plenty to see, but without knowing your interests it is difficult to make recommendations.I suggest you buy or borrow some good guidebooks, or you could read my TR on Lisbon - click on my name for the link.

Hi,
How many days you'll be in Lisbon? Very important because has you said there are lots of things to see and lots of day trips available....
You can plan you trip with this Lisbon website:
https://www.visitlisboa.com/lisbon

Also a very important question is the time of the year, because in spring and summer you also have lots of beaches close by, so.....
Must sees in Lisbon city:
- Jeronimos monastery
- Belem Tower
- São Jorge Castle
- Alfama old neighborhood
- The plazas of Rossio and Comercio
- The tiled facades of the buildings
- The cobblestones art work
- The cathedral, the Estrela Basilica, and several more old churches
- The arch or Plaza do Comercio
- Santa Justa Lift, Bica lift
- Santa Luzia, São Pedro de Alcant ra, Santa Catarina, Graça Viewpoints
- Saint Vicente Monastery
- The Patheon
- 28 Tram ride
- Fado venue
- Sintra day trip (only 30 to 40 min)
- Cascais/Estoril day trip (only 30 to 40 min)
- Óbidos day trip
- Évora day trip

I can't believe mbjl included the castle, which is eminently skippable if you have seen castles elsewhere in Europe, and omitted the Gulbenkian. Not to mention several other worthwhile museums. And the Solar do Vinho do Porto for port tasting. Click on my name for my Lisbon TR.
