Where to stay on Santorini

I'm going to Santorini in early Oct with my boyfriend. Can anyone recommend romantic hotels with great views? Where's quieter/more authentic, Fira or Oia? Also good restaurant recommendations woudl be much much appreciated! Thank you!

We liked Volcano View hotel, outside of Fira. Right on the caldera, with, of course, a spectacular view from your private patio.

Recommend Selene in Fira for romantic dinner with excellent food, view.

Hi,

Try the Chromata outside of Fira. The web site is www.chromata.net As long as you stay on the caldera side in a hotel with a view it will be spectacular.

Hi Lucy,

Everytime I go to Santorini I stay at Studio Artemis in Megalochori. It is only 4km from Fira the main town and is a very beautiful hotel, quiet, clean and has the most perfect view you can find on the island. It is built right on the caldera- nothing like volcano view where you have to cross a very busy road to get there- where you can just lay and watch the sunset. visit: www.artemistudio.com.
You will love it!!!!

I forgot the restaurants.
Archipelagos is a very good one in Fira by the Metropolitan church.
Avoid Zorda, the only mexican restaurant is the island. Very expensive and the worst quality and service.

Hi all, thank you so much for your replies and suggestions. Incidentally I'd just discovered a beautiful hotel called Katikies, and tried to book for Oct but it was full! Thought it would be low-season... but maybe not. Back to the planning board. Thanks!

Another vote for Esperas, stayed there in June 2001 and loved it. The staff was helpful and friendly.

http://www.greekhotel.com/cyclades/s...peras/home.htm

Try Atlantis Villas in Oia or Vedema in Megalahori if you don't want a caldera view. You won't be disappointed in either hotel.

Make sure you visit the black sand beaches and Akrotiri.
