Where to Next??

We're starting to think about where in Europe to head next year (April/May). We tend to do too much when we go to Europe and come home exhausted, so next year we're looking for a trip where there will still be plenty of sightseeing to do, but also places to relax, and someplace with warm weather. What about Spain? How crowded is Italy in April/May? I'm open to suggestions! Thanks.

Where all have you been? Greece is a great place to sightsee, relax and eat. Crete is especially nice.

We've been to England, Scotland, Ireland, Paris & Germany. We have thought about going on a Mediterranean cruise, but it seems kind of pricey. Thanks.

Hi Kendra

>We tend to do too much when we go to Europe and come home exhausted,...<

Go back to the place you liked the most and do it slowly.

I really enjoyed being in Spain in May - the weather was nice and I didn't find it too crowded. My favorite place to visit was Sevilla, and I have heard wonderful reviews of Semana Santa and Feria...although I know that the city tends to get quite crowded. I believe next year Easter is a little earlier, though, so perhaps

I believe next year Easter is a little earlier, though, so perhaps you might miss the "mad rushes"! Either way, though, have a wonderful trip, and good luck with wherever you decide to go!

Italy is wonderful in April and warmer in May. It is not yet as crowded as summer months and is beautiful at that time of the year. If you haven't been to Italy, I recommend it highly - plenty of sightseeing and lots of opportunity to relax.

I vote for...

1. Amalfi Coast, Italy -
2. Greek Island hopping
3. Barcelona, Spain

All three have plenty to see, but have beaches to relax. The amalfi coast seemed rocky, but there is a pretty stretch of beach in Positano. Greece is pretty that time of year...wildflowers are out and weather is nice. Both of the above are well on the beaten path.

Barcelona has lots to see, but Sitges is not far and you can certainly beach yourself there.

Personally though, I would go Dubrovnik, Croatia and Hvar.

If you really want to relax, go to Brugge. Rent an apartment, eat choclates, drink beer, go to Gent, Antwerp and Knokke. Weather will be beautiful in April and there won't be as many people. If possible do Brugge during the weekedays.
Have fun planning.
