Where to go for my birthday dinner in Paris??

Hej,

I'm looking for a nice restaurant in Paris where I can have my birthday dinner together with my fiance.

What I like:
Vegetables (I would love to eat artichokes in Paris)
fusion food
fancy salads
Italian food
nice atmosphere
not to big
not formal

What I don't like:
foie gras
frog legs
lamb
red meat in general
to pay more than 50 Euro per menue

Do you have any recommendations so that I can enjoy my birthday dinner on Friday?? We'll stay in the 6. arrondissement, but the restaurant doesn't have to be right there

Best regards,
linchen

One of my favorite restaurants in Paris is Lei, a very attractive modern Italian restaurant in the 7th arrond. You can see pictures of the dining room and check the menu at:
http://www.reservethebest.com/_en_/r...ant.php?Id=386
The service there is very good--professional and welcoming. I had the vegetable starter (excellent) followed by the tagliata (also excellent, but you're not a red meat eater), very good Tuscan wine (by the glass, you don't have to order a bottle to get good wine), dessert, and coffee. Tell them it's your birthday and request a table by the window for people watching.
The reservethebest.com website is quite helpful. We've used them to pick out some restaurants for our upcoming 4 day week-end in Paris. You can see pictures of the restaurants and peruse the menus (with prices).
Have a happy birthday!

You can find good gastronomic restaurants almost in every 4 star chain hotel in paris, some of them are inspired or supervised by Alain Ducasse, a very very very good chef.
Some of them are:
1.Il Cortile-Castille Paris Sofitel
Demeure Hotels-37, rue cambon el.44584567
2.Le Carpaccio, Royal Monceau,37, Ave Hoche tel.0144998800
3.Le Clovis-Arc De Triomphe Paris Sofitel Demeure Hotels,14 rue beujon,
tel.0153895053
4.Le Restaurant de l'Astor, Astor Saint-Honore, 11 rue d'Astorg, 53050520
5.Spoon Food and Wine-Marignan Elysees Sofitel Demeure Hotels-14, rue de Marignan, tel0140763434
6.Cafe Faubourg-Le Faubourg Sofitel Demeure Hotels, 15, Rue Boissy D'anglas
tel.0144941424
7.Les Muses-Le jardin Des Muses-Hotel Scribe-1 rue Scribe-tel.0144712426
8.La table du Baltimore-Baltimore Paris Sofitel Demeure Hotels-88bis avenue Kleber-tel.0144345434
9.59 Poincare-Le Parc Sofitel Demeure Hotels-59, avenue Raymond Poincare,tel.0147275919
10.Les Elysees Du Vernet(2 stars Michelin-Under a ceiling designed by G.Eiffel-One of the best in Paris-unfortunately i do not know the prices)-Hotel Vernet-25,rue Vernet-tel.44319800
If you choose one of them i think you have to reserve a table!!!
For more questions do not hesitate to ask!!!

I second Spoon Food and Wine as a great choice for what you want, although might be a bit more than what you want to spend. Also check out Maceo. Excellent food and many vegetarian choices

Thank you for your recommendations

@BTlike: thank you for the link, it seems to be very helpful. I'll start another posting for recommendations of restaurant rating websites

@Gkap: I like spoon food&wine a lot, but it sounds/looks like a very formal restaurant what I really don't like Maybe I'm wrong??

@mulifat: Maceo sounds great

Wel , Yes the Spoon Food and Wine is very formal
Btw. You can take a virtual tour of the restaurants inside the Sofitels at this site: www.sofitel.com
just click on the Hotel where the restaurant is and then on the Virtual Tour button.

A place we found a while back and have returned to since is Le Cosi, 9 rue Cujas in the 5th, phone 01 43 29 20 20. Closest metro is Cluny-La-Sorbonne; stroll down Blvd Saint-Michel and turn left onto rue Cujas. It sits on a nice corner location near the Pantheon but out of the commerical crush, and a real find for foodies. Not large but certainly not cramped, the service is excellent and proper but nowhre near stiff and formal. The menu is Corsican, a type of Italian not always easy to find. Patricia Wells gives it a good review at www.patriciawells.com/reviews/iht/2003/02-14.htm
