What to do at Frankfurt airport?

I have to wait 10 hrs. for my flight to Nice at Frankfurt airport in Germany. There is a flight to Nice by Lufthansa airline which leave earlier(4 hrs waiting time)but I have to pay $250.00 more. So, having no money, I opt for the wait. What to do at the airport? Is there a sleeping room or shower at the airport? Does putting myself on standby for earier flight possible and worth it? Please help. Thank you.

The city is not far from airport. You can go in Frankfurt, walk in the old part of the town, go to a nice restaurant, etc. You have a plenty of time.

I don't think I would want to spend 10 hrs. in the airport. I was there earlier this year and saw no restaurants. There were carts offering expensive, stale bread items and passengers were sitting on the floor waiting for their flights. We were not allowed to enter the boarding area (where the only chairs were located) until shortly before boarding. I do not know if showers, etc. are available. Maybe you can take a shuttle or taxi into town and find a comfy cafe.

You can go to Mainz, you can go to Mannheim and Heidelberg. Train directly from the airport without having to go into Frankfurt.

There is a train from the airport into downtown. Go into Franfurt, take a tour, have a nice meal, enjoy yourself, then go back to the airport.

We had a 7 hour lay over in Frankfurt airport on the way to Italy. We took the S bahn train into town and stayed at the 4 star NH Frankfurt city hotel on Vibelerstrasse. They charged only 50 euro for up to an 8 hour day stay. My wife showered and slept while I wandered around town.
