Visiting Alghero and Cala Gonone
Hi All,
Just a question about travelling around Sardinia...
My husband and I are planning to stay in Sardinia for 4 nights at the end of August this year. We have to fly into Olbia but hoping flying out of Alghero. Is it too ambitious to see both Cala Gonone and Alghero with 4 nights (4 and a half full days)? Or would it be ok to do 2 nights in Cala Gonone and Alghero.
Any help would be much appreciated and thank you in advance!

The points of interest in Alghero are in an extremely compact area. You can walk around all of Alghero in less than an hour if you aren't planning on stopping inside any churches or shops. I have never visited Cala Gonone, but if you don't want to feel rushed there, I would think that you could get by with one night in Alghero.
I don't know what traffic is like in August in Sardinia, and that might slow you down. If you decide to go to Alghero after Cala Gonone, consider stopping in Bosa for lunch on the way to Alghero. I would expect that in August Alghero is absolutely swamped with daytrippers, and maybe the nicest time to enjoy it is later in the day.

Cala Gonone - Alghero:
the motorway via Nuoro - Macomer - Sassari will be faster than the road via Bosa.
The top high season will end on Saturday 26th/Sunday 27th. On these days, there will be much traffic on the roads to the ferry ports of Olbia and Porto Torres.
