Visit Bordeaux in December?

We will be headed south on the TGV to the Basque country from Paris in late November and the train stops in Bordeaux. I've always wanted to visit this region, but wondered about our timing. Has anyone been there in early Winter? We were considering spending the afternoon or overnight.
thanks!

Sure, spend a night. Bordeaux isn't wildly popular with American travelers, but it's worth a day or so, especially if you have time to get out to Cap Ferrat and Arcachon and the Dune du Pylat (December's not the best time, though). It has a good Musée des Beaux Arts, lots of lovely parks, and myriad wonderful restaurants and wine shops. The shopping area off the rue Ste-Cathérine is delightful. Go for it.

Hi StCirq- Thanks for the info. I wish I had time to visit those coastal areas near Bordeaux. I'll remember this for my next trip, though.
