Villa Brunella on Capri

I am considering staying here for one night on our honeymoon in July. is it worth it to stay in a superior double room or will we be missing out on a view, etc? The suite would be great but I think out of our price range....

If anyone has stayed in a double room, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!

We stayed there in '93, so I don't know about any changes since then. The hotel cascades down the hill. The "upper" rooms (above the pool) have fantastic views. We had room #55, which was a very large room & fantastic views. Our traveling friends had room #4 which was down the hill & no view. They also had to walk up & down the stairs to get anywhere. Make sure you get a room with a view

I wonder if anyone has stayed at Villa Brunella within the last year. We had dinner there about two years ago, and visited friends who stayed there. Unfortunately, their room had a musky, swimming pool type smell. Because it was high season, there were no other rooms available, so they were unable to move, but I'd hate for you to waste your money if this problem remains. Maybe other posters could report on what the situation is now before you decide?

Some other hotels in that range or less that have gotten good reviews are:

Casa Morgano, just down the street from Brunella ( actually, this one might be more expensive by now)

And Hotel Mamela ( spelling), which I've heard great things about, and has an excellent location.

Good luck! And congratulations!

Haven't stayed there in the last year but the last time we were there, in the late 90s, we had a deluxe double, below the pool and it had a huge terrace and breathtaking view. No musty smell then. The stairs are a challenge but I love the hotel.

Hi,

I suggest that you go to www.tripadvisor.com and check the reviews there. There are a lot of recent reviews most of them positive.

Good luck
