Hi, we plan on flying ryanair into Verona quite late in the evening, do the trains travel throughout the night to Venice - if not has anyone got good hotel recommendations in Verona - not too expensive please,<BR><BR>Much appreciated

Carron---I wouldn't think it advisable to take a train that late at night even if it is available. You'll just arrive in Venice even later, and then what do you do? Better to stay in a little hotel not too far from the train station in Verona. My suggestion is the Hotel Firenze or the Grand Hotel, both on the boulevard leading from the train station to the Arena, and not too far from the station.

The flight arrives 21:50 and the airport is in Brescia, not Verona. Brescia is also on the same rail line as Verona-Venice, but I suspect that you will not make it. The webpage http://www.ryanair.com/dest/brescia.html indicates that the airport is 50 km (west) from Verona. There is bus service, synchronized to incoming flights. You are probably going to want to check out www.venere.com for Brescia or Verona. I have been to that Brescia airport, and it's out away from anything; I don't think there is any lodging near the airport.<BR><BR>Certainly not the end of the world. You will undoubtedly save money staying in either city instead of arriving in Venice past midnight and paying much more for a shortened night's sleep.<BR><BR>If you choose to, you can get an up-and-at-em start, arriving in Venice at 8:57 the next morning. A nice little two hour ride for catnapping, drop your bags off at your hotel, and you've got the whole day available in Venice. Hopefully, you WILL still spend at least one night in Venice, since I think that the best two hours in Venice are the last one before you go to bed, and the first one in the morning. In fact, more than most other cities, I find it fascinating to see venice wake up in the morning. Worth it to go for a sun-up stroll - - then even if you are checking out of your hotel that day, come back in mid-morning, and re-start your day with a shower etc then.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Carron,<BR><BR>Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. We were very delayed and landed very late, too late for a train (but the bus to Verona will wait) and anyway Brescia airport is in the middle of nowhere, better to stay in Verona. We stayed at the hotel Torcolo. It was excellent, 40 yards from the Opera so you can see a bit of Verona as well. It was 90 Euros for a double room, about &pound;35 quid each. I don’t have the number for the hotel on me (at work), but you can e-mail me if you want it.<BR>

We stayed at the Guilietta e Romeo hotel. (Vicolo Tre Marchetti, 3) Very clean, excellent location to the main piazza and friendly staff. (The hotel was about $150.00 US for 3)
