Venice to Marco Polo Airport

We have almost everything lined up for our trip to Italy which will end in Venice. Our hotel is not far from the train station but it doesn't seem that there is a train directly from the station to the airport. Have I missed something? I've come here in hopes someone can recommend a direct service, doesn't have to be by train, from near the station to the airport. Thank you.

You can either get a fast bus (15-20 mins) to Piazzale Roma, which is a shortish walk to the station (and €6) or a boat (check with your hotel what stop you need, because there are different boat routes). Depending on where exactly you want, this might take a bit less or a bit more time, and will cost €15

The arguments for each option were rehearsed here recently at http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...o-vence.cfm?21.

The OP wants to go FROM Venice TO the airport.

Just over the bridge from the train station is Piazzale Roma, an open air "bus station". You can catch a land bus from Piazzale Roma directly to the airport for 6 euro per person. Two companies run buses whch cost the same. The local bus service, ACTV, is a regular city bus that makes a few stops along the way to the airport. The ATVO bus is more like a long-distance bus with luggage storage below that goes directly from Piazzale Roma to the airport without stopping.

Where is your hotel? You may be fairly close to the Guglie stop in which case you can catch the Alilaguna boat to the airport.

If your hotel is near the train station, I'd take the bus, not the Alilaguna.

"Not far from the train station" could be closer to the Guglie stop than to Piazzale Roma.

Agree with above--so many ways to skin the cat with Venice transport. Do give your actual location and we can give you a much more tailored response.

The hotel address is given as Lista di Spagna, it's the Hotel Boscolo Bellini and the website states it is 200m from the train station. That's why I was hoping for a direct rail connection.

Even if it's a bit closer to the Guglie stop, I'd still take the bus. It's cheaper than the Alilaguna and, IMHO, more convenient.

Well, for one thing, there is no rail connection, so you didn't miss anything.

Thanks for giving us the specs, Scootair. Like Vincenzo, I'm leaning towards the bus rec, too. The water routes are all well and good, but the bus system so close to you works brilliantly, easily and cheaply.
