We will be staying in venice one night in september 2002. i am looking at staying at the Hotel Ambassador Tre Rose or Albergo San Marco. If anyone has stayed at either of these hotels could you tell me what they are like? thanks!

We stayed at Tre Rose. The location was great, just about 2 short blocks off Piazza San Marco. They also recommended a fantastic restaurant that we enjoyed, that they owned and was a short walk. Hotel was clean and air conditioner worked very well. We used entertainment card and got discount, although they stuck us in very small room. It is a typical 3-star hotel, and I have no major complaints.

I thought I had read that the Albergo San Marco had been renovated completely last year. If that's the same hotel that is just behind the Piazza.
